Seems like if you disengage the steering wheel the horn will work intermittently... This is a cable inside your steering column that wraps around the internal rotating part of the steering column and contains the wiring for your horn and any other steering-wheel mounted buttons or controls that...
I had a similar problem Steering wheel buttons and horn would not work. The weird thing was that starting the car the next morning everything worked. It was diagnosed as steering column control panel.
The uconnect phone buttons are not working on the steering wheel, and the radio buttons on the back of the wheel are non responsive as well. In fact the only thing working on the steering wheel (besides the horn) is the cruise control, so I figure they are probably on separate wiring.
But none of the buttons on the steering wheel are working - not volume for radio, not cruise control. Sympthoms are following: * buttons on the steering wheel are lighted up * buttons on the steering wheel are not working, none of them * horn is not working I have checked internet over and over and have 3 conclusions, what might be faulty:
Honk your horn a couple of times, everything should start working again!! Seriosly, it hapened to me, something with the clock spring in the steering wheel. A friend who is a chrysler service tech told me about this quick fix. It works!:beer:
